The Best News I've Had All Week!

Another slow day at work. I reeeeeaaaaaallllllllyyyyyyy (seriously! emphasize this) need business to pick up or else I'm going to be run out of town because I'll be out of money. I've had a few customers this week, but not enough to keep going at this speed.

BUT! I have good news (sort of? I think it's good anyway)

So, on my way home from work I'm waiting for the subway to get back to my apartment. There's this girl standing beside me talking on her phone. Now, I'm not really trying to eavesdrop, but I was super bored and there wasn't much else going on…so I just happened to overhear. Anyway, she mentions to this person on the phone about how she works for the Times. Instantly I'm thinking, "Great! Maybe she can tell me how to advertise with them!" because I really have no clue how to get in touch with those people.

She hangs up the phone and I decide to be brave and say hi. I told her I heard about where she works, and would it be possible to get in touch with someone who does advertisements? She turned out to be sooooo nice, it's crazy. Her name is Charlotte, and not only did she help me out, she gave me her number so we could talk later. We talked for a few minutes on the platform until my train came. She said she was working on this huge case, and she wants to tell me about it!

I'm so excited. I'm just hoping that she's not too "investigative"… I don't want her to find out about why I'm here before I'm sure she has zero connections to back home. Better safe than sorry!

About That Map...

After talking to everyone for awhile about our rescue mission plan, we decided to make a map to track our movements. Being followed by the government is a serious concern, so we figured if we wrote down every place we visited, we could keep track if we thought there was any thing suspicious happening or  following us or whatever. I put my hometown on there too, just in case anyone from my past decided to come pay me a visit…but I seriously doubt that would happen. I really don't know if this is going to be very helpful to us in rescuing Blaire, but whatever.

Still Settling...

So, I'll consider my first day at work here in the city a success, I suppose. I had three customers all day, all searching for the woman who used to run the shop of course, but they seemed to enjoy what I had to say. The shop is still a little barren at the moment, still waiting on my delivery, but I really am excited to settle in and finally make it my own.

I finally got a chance to do some exploring around the city after work. It's so foreign to me to see the guards patrolling the borders of the different areas of the city…I think they're called sectors? It's a totally different way of life than back home. The tall buildings and endless stream of people seemed interesting at  first, but now I'm really missing my red deserts and open skies. Plus the weather here is terrible. How do people deal with all this rain???

Hoping to meet some new people soon. Even just a few days of being totally alone is too much for me. Must find friends soon or I'll be forced to adopt the 300000 strays that roam around outside my apartment building. Maybe I'll head out tomorrow and try to find a bar or a club or something…anything with other people and I'll be satisfied.

Better head to bed now though, I have an early morning tomorrow. I'm gonna head around to some places around the shop and try to put up some flyers. I need some more business ASAP!

Getting Settled In...

I'm finally getting settled into my new apartment. It's not as nice as my place back out west, but I guess it'll do…I don't really have much choice. I had to meet with an "immigrations" officer before they would let me officially move in. My apartment is in the nice part of town, and was definitely out of my price range. The lady I spoke too seemed very interested whenever she read my occupation as "psychic," so I think she thought I was interesting enough to cut me deal. Whatever works I suppose.

I've gotten set up with a place for work too. It's not as close to my apartment as I'd like, but I've just been so lucky in getting my arrangements set up out here that I'm not going to complain. The shop is a tiny little place, just one small 20x20 square room, but it's all mine. I'm hoping to get the rest of my equipment soon too. I spent pretty much the very last pennies of my savings on a few decorations for the place, to create a little more "atmosphere." Or something. And a new pack of Tarot cards as well, maybe those will help me feel more professional than I do now.

First official day of business tomorrow, assuming I get any customers. I've got to find some sort of way to advertise this place. There was an old woman who ran a psychic readings room from this building until she passed away, and I lucked into the right moment to take over from her. Fingers crossed one of her old regulars happens to stop by!
